Default Finding Your XP Product ID

There is a great little utility available to help you find your currently installed product ID

http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml

It also works for Windows 95, 98, ME, NT4, 2000, XP, Server 2003, Office 97, and Office XP

I have used this utility and it works well BUT I am suspicious that using this utility has caused me some unwanted persistant pop-ups. If anyone else has experienced this please let me know and also if it did were you able to find a way to get rid of the pop-ups?

1. try using windows restore option if you have that enabled on your computer. You can access it by going to start > all program > accessories > system tool > system restore

2. If system restore doesn't work, try running your spybot tool. For example, spybot search and destroy, adware. I personally use Mcafee Total Protection that comes with everything and so far no problem *crossing fingers*

3. If you are using firefox, you can get this program called noscript that will block harmful javascripts. The problem with this is that it blocks a lot of sites from functioning properly and you have sit there allowing sites every new site you visit etc.

I agree with Booboo with what he has said but you can also check your xp product key currently in use by right clicking on my computer clicking on properties and looking under registered to and the right data should be displayed if I am correct.

Default Pop-up eliminated, I hope.

I did take drastic measures as the darn thing would start popping up about 3 times a minute. I tried the XP rollback to an earlier date and that did not work. I use Ad-Aware and that did not work. The pop-up said "to eliminate this pop-up vist our website at..." and as a last resort I clicked on it. It did eliminate the pop-up but now I'm wondering what's next. Any company that would use such a stunt certainly can not be trusted. If anything else pops up I will let you know.
