Default Is there a way to force windows to install "windows updates"?

Okay I was working on my computer and bam my lights went out. When my light came back on, i turned on my computer and I had some corrupt file that was preventing me from turning on my computer. So I called Dell technical support and they told to me use my xp cd and use the "r" option to recover windows. So i did that and now everything is fine except windows wont install any "windows update". I know that when i did system recovery old windows files were copied over, so i do need to security updates from windows but its not working. When I go to the windows update website, it tells me i have around 80 somethign security updates that I need to install but they all fail during installation. So my question - Is there any way to force windows to install "windows updates".

I am not sure but maybe it's because you are trying to install too many updates at once and make sure that they don't need to be installed on their own because some of them do. To make sure they install automatically without having to go to the site right click on my computer and click on properties. Click on the automatic update tab and then select the automatically download and install updates and that also may fix your problem.

Let me know how it goes.

hi - i also think the same. the best way is to order a update CD which i think will be available from DELL support in your area. they will install the update by hand with the CD & then you can continue installing the updates from the last date of last update installed from the CD. check it will DELL

I agree with Flickall. Have you fixed your error and problems as yet or are none of the suggestions above working??

Please let us know if it is fixed or not.

Is it still occuring or has it been fixed now?

Any other related errors?
