Having a quad core processor with 2GB RAM, you could have any antivirus installed, without affecting the performance of the system. It is the concern of systems less than 512MB RAM to have an antivirus with low memory usage.

If you are planning to buy any antivirus, check this http://www.profusehost.net/forum/win...rotection.htmlthread.

AVG, Avast, and AntiVir are all good options. I think antivir uses the least system resources.

Kaspersky? I'm using it and I think it's great. Just 30 EUR too for a year (OEM version though).
