Default Is Asus Eee PC Good?

A few weeks ago I came across an Asus Eee PC. I'm pretty sure most of you have heard of it. I'm thinking about buying it but I'm not sure if I should. For starter, the notebook is pretty small therefore it's convenient to carry around and it also has wireless networking. But I wonder if it run smoothly. Please give me some advice. Thanks

First of all here is a screenshot that shows the screen of the Asus Eee Pc:

The Point is, the Eee PC is not Windows based it comes with Linux pre installed, so if you need windows for whatever reason (some certain Application or anything else) you have to buy a copy of windows xp (vista is not able to run on the Eee Pc. If you do not need windows then the Eee Pc might be the right choice.

But also remember the limited disk only 8 Gb max. that is not that much, if you want to listen to some music on your journey or if you want to watch some movie. Really 8 Gb is not that much.

I personal feel no need for an computer like the Eee Pc, the only thing I would consider to buy is the iphone, because it offers the same space, also an non windows operation system and so on. But that is only my opinion.

I am very sure that the Eee PC has much more power than the iPhone. Not bashing it though, I actually like the little thing (what is pretty weird in my case cause I generally don't like the products of Apple). It's overpriced as hell though. Seriously, I'm not willing to pay that much for a phone (yes, I know it's not 'just' a phone..) And I'm crazy enough to spend 600 on a graphic card, so it's not money problems or anything.
But anyway, no. I don't think the Eee PC is really good value for money. It's great for third world countries or very poor families though.

Isn't the eee pc really cheap at a price around 300 usd . I recall reading it on the magazine. It is suitable for younger kids. Or you can mod the Os yourself by getting SLAX-Linux which is live cd for only 200 MB a Operation System include broswer, word editing...

If you're rather rich and need a portable PC which has basic functions, I guess the Asus EE PC is quite alright.

But I won't get one myself coz I think its not really worth it.

I noticed some of you just mixed up the same things like I did.

The third world pc called XO-1 is not the Asus Eee Pc !

For a fully detailed comparison, you might want to read this blog entry !

I think I phone is better to get than Asus Eee PC. Got 16gb of space now. With the SDK out now we can develop small softwares and fully customize your phone. So its better to get mobile.

Maybe some day We both win in lottery and can buy tons of iphones
But I do not think so!

The point about the iphone is, it already has some of the most beautiful technologies but there are still some errors. So maybe it is no bad I idea to wait a year or two and then when they release a new model we get improved features and so on.

But this is off topic, we should focus on the Asus Eee Pc again !
