Microsoft Releases Windows Defender

Microsoft released Windows Defender on Tuesday, a free anti-spyware program that finally gives Microsoft a serious presence in the PC security market. It will protects Windows PCs from spyware, adware, and other potential security threats. It will be included with Vista but user on xps sp2, windows 2003 can download it for free.

update: i ran the program on my computer and found 5 programs that shouldn't even exist on my computer. I have norton and norton never even detected them. keep it up billy gates :-)

sounds good that microsoft trying to understanding their weakness in security. i hope it never need for service pack again (too bad for defender if use sp for another reason )

Hm, that sounds pretty cool. Microsoft has pretty much failed in the security department up until Vista. The built-in firewall in XP SP2 came in last in a firewall study by some independent company, which is why I installed a different one. And up until now, I've just been using Spybot, but perhaps this program will do better.
