That study is a bit old I think. Although Kaspersky has still maintained its position at the top of the list. I dont understand why many people use Norton, its a resource hog and there are many other antivirus solutions better than it. I have used Kaspersky for a year, the only thing i didnt like about it is the time it takes to do a full system scan, but it's really good. It provides definition updates almost every 2-3 hours.

Currently I use NOD32 which is another top notch anti virus and its very light on resources. I'd recommend to stay away from Norton because there are many other anti virus programs that are cheaper and more efficient without eating up too much memory.

I also this Kaspersky latest 7.3.03 is the best one now.
I think McAfee is alo another one that is quite good coming close to Kaspersky.

Norton is DRINKING resources & functioning normal... but i like Kaspersky its BEST.

I have avast! and I personally like it better than Kaspersky or Norton. I actually deleted viruses instead of just informing me about them.

I currently use norton on some of my pc's although I think it is crap and support is almost non-existant and is slow and takes up too much processing power.

Have been using AVG on another pc which is free and works the best picks up more than Norton ever has and norton is expensive and not worth it.

AVG is great, scans quickly and throughly and is a great think to use and haven't had any problems with it yet over my years of using it.

Got my hands on a 4 month copy of kaspersky internet security and it is crap. I open one little window to explore my files and am presented with prompt after prompt after prompt never ending. It is a pain and a waste of time poping up just like norton does when you do not care I do not want to know about or hear about my anti-virus program unless there is a problem with the auto update or it can not delete a virus.

I have turned off features in the Kaspersky internet suite as it bugs me for things that aren't a problem and annoys me every two seconds asking for me to re-enter the same setting 50 thousand times.

I would not recommend Kaspersky but would recommend the anti-virus version over norton But AVG is the best as you don't have to pay every year for something that should be included in windows in the first place.

I also use spybot S&D and it works great and has great protection from spyware.

Have had minimal experience with nod32 but it has looked appealing to me if I ever need to use a different virus protection for whatever reason.

I just like it when things work automatically and norton doesn't update properly unless you are admin which is a problem on my aprent's computer as they don't need the access and with no password it is a risk to the network but norton doesn't update under a limited account.

Do any of you had encountered a problem with AVG free? I tried both the 6.5 and 7 versions but sometimes, AVG detects its files as virus. The notification is always coming on and I can't do a work in my system. So, I uninstalled it and stopped recommending it. Also, the AVG free version cant heal many of the viruses. What do you people think about my comments about AVG? Does anyone had similar experience.
I now recommend using Kaspersky for high performance systems and antivir for systems with about 128 or 256 MB memory.

I now prefer using VirusBuster Professional 2006. I gave it a try just because I got a 1 year free license. But now I stick to it just because its awesome. It have an real time scanner and also scans HTTP, POP, FTP etc. Also, the virus database are available for download separately.

I have never had the same probs as you have experienced, Bizzard with AVG. I am using it on all my computers and will not recommend Norton as it's shit slow and so is Kaspersky as I tried it on my laptop and it continually wants to run scans on my computer even though I am on battery power at the time! AVG does not have this issue and the scans are quick.

Would recommend AVG to anyone not the other two I mentioned above at all.

I use Trend Micro PC-cillin. Never let me down. It's not very known though... What was the ranking of PC-cillin?

Link in the first post is broken, that's why.

Yeah I had the same problem but forgot to mention it. I always find that Trend Micro House Call is a great online program to use to check how your current anti-virus program works. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ It is free too!! Wouldn't recommend it as your main anti-virus software but is good to check how your current one is going!
