Smile Best Software For Screen Shots

what do you mean about a software specially for screen shot??
actually I use my windows xp screen shot without using another software without any cost.

your question let me think that may be I did and do a mistake in understanding screen shot.

now what I do is, from a page that I want to get a screen shot, just I hold Alt and push on print screen once, then I open my paint program, or word, or power point or whatever, and just paste.

it is all, then I can decide to save it in different formats, so for example in gif is the lowest quality and in bmp the best quality.

the point is of course that the image size is different between my pc screen shot and my laptop and when I do with other wide screen monitor.

If I want to cut some edges from my photo , then just I trim it.

Is there other cheaper or better quality and more simple than it, please feel free to reply to this thread.
bye bye

Its released under GPL.
V 2.0.5.3 can be downloaded from http://www.programas-gratis.net/php/..._programa=2628 Its just a 5 MB

Its funny that guys love getting extra software on their system when they already have something free. Presing printscreen on your keyboard will copy everything thing on your screen totally into your clipboard. From there, you can post it into your favourite image editing application like fireworks or photoshop. Tweak and edit and you get your finished product. If you want just a window, follow the steps that regine has outlined above. If you still want an extra software probably because your hard disk is too big, lol, google it up or download one from www.softpedia.com

Hey don't be silly drixie. Print Screen in every operating system creates a screenshot of whole screen. Also, the size will be high and hard to reduce without changing the image quality.
Other softwares provide more options to capture screen by parts and to control the size. Also, they don't want much space. Many of these softwares are below 1MB in size and has a very helpful interface.
Earlier, I needed some screenshots for some project and seminar purposes. It was a hard job with the windows screenshot option. So, I searched and found this software Grab Capture Screen. Now, I think that software project is in frozen state. I'll try to find more and post here.

You are talking rubbish Bizzard. What I hate the most is when a noob tries telling some geeky tech person like drixie here that he is wrong.

Why would you spend more money on something that is already included in windows and is quite easy and quick to use as all you need to do is click print screen and then use your favourite graphics program ( I recommend Photoshop) to cut out the parts of the image you don't need.

This is much quicker than using a dedicated software program to do it as I have set them up and installed them on my client's computers at their request and they very quickly find out it is quicker and easier to print screen it and then edit and save it in a graphics program.

You then can save your money for something that is worthwhile for your IT work.

It sounds to me like some of us have oodles of money to waste. I wish someone would give it to me and I could spend it in a much better way then wasting it.

Save the money on a print screen program and go and buy a graphics program so that you can also create wonderful looking banners and graphics for your site. A graphics program becomes an invaluable tool.

Ok, first of all sorry for being rude if you consider my previous post so. I know that this is not a place for argument. What I told is my opinion and can change from person to person.

The software I told is free of cost and many others are available in the OpenSource projects site, www.sourceforge.net along with source codes. For some, cutting and pasting huge volume of screen shots is a boring job, atleast for me. and why should we work much if a software is available for free that captures only the desired portion?
Also, you told of spending money for waste. why don't you use free Image Editors like Gimp instead of the high cost Photoshop? Isn't that wastage of money?

Screen Rip 32 is what i use, It lets you drag a rectangle for what you want to rip, grab an active window, grab the entire screen, or grab a custom area (where you set how big the rectangle is). It also lets you turn pictures u just riped or pictures in your computer into an animated gif. You can set the delay for times when you want to click something before taking the shot. The website you can download it is http://www.progency.com/other.html. A captured image can also be turned into a cursor/icon file if you ever want to make a custom cursor, and can be captured and converted into different color depths, true color > 256 color > 16 color > monochrome

ScreenPrint32, hands down, is the best free one I've found. It provides so many options in compressing the image, lets you assign any button on the keyboard to take a screenshot, and has a bunch of options in how it automatically names the image. Plus the quality is impeccable - I use the PNG option - the size is very small and manageable, and I can't even see the compression. It also stays open in the system tray whenever Windows is open, so I can just randomly take a screenshot whenever I need to. It barely takes up any resources in the system, and it's really convenient.

SnagIt is pretty awesome. Its from the makers of Camtasia Studio if you don't know what that is. Its cost money but its pretty much worth if unless you won't to keep copying your screenshots to paint or photoshop and crop them from there.
