besides the wonderful but simple and cost free windows screenshot there is a lot of programs out there for windows.

if you happen to be on a mac then i would just use mac's basic screenshot thing. it can be used to save selected things, save as, or full screen. also saves them right to your desktop.

a program for mac is
Ambrosia Software, Inc. -- utilities/snapzprox

Snapzpro

it can record video's also.

I use Fraps for video screenshots or gifs and Snipping Tool for normal on screen capture. Both are free. I think you can find Fraps on the net but I'm not sure about Snipping Tool coz it the program was already there when I bought my Vista.

I saw my friend using Fraps too. And I was convinced it was a very good program for screenshots. Since you can save the screenshot automatically even when gaming.

actually I use my windows xp screen shot without using another software without any cost.

your question let me think that may be I did and do a mistake in understanding screen shot.

now what I do is, from a page that I want to get a screen shot, just I hold Alt and push on print screen once, then I open my paint program, or word, or power point or whatever, and just paste.

it is all, then I can decide to save it in different formats, so for example in gif is the lowest quality and in bmp the best quality.

the point is of course that the image size is different between my pc screen shot and my laptop and when I do with other wide screen monitor.

If I want to cut some edges from my photo , then just I trim it.

Is there other cheaper or better quality and more simple than it, please feel free to reply to this thread.
bye bye
Yeah guys why can't you all just do this. I saw my friend spend $50 on a video program just to take screenshots. Just press prt scr

The software I told is free of cost and many others are available in the OpenSource projects site, SourceForge.net: Open Source Software along with source codes. For some, cutting and pasting huge volume of screen shots is a boring job, atleast for me. and why should we work much if a software is available for free that captures only the desired portion?
Also, you told of spending money for waste. why don't you use free Image Editors like Gimp instead of the high cost Photoshop? Isn't that wastage of money?
Not really. GIMP isn't included free with Windows but the print screen function is . I just use the print screen function in Windows and then trim and crop the image with Photoshop. To me paying for a program that maybe saves you a few seconds work is abit of a waste of money to be honest .

I'm not sure it was necessary to bring this dead topic back to life. The question had already been answered numerous times...
