    Lightbulb great free software for designing

    I've notice this program and its really free to use and download, it has great properties that you can use it, and really near to photoshop program try it and tell me what you think.

    Yeah I really love GIMP but for the moment there is no chance against photoshop, as most clients require me to use photoshop.

    also think about the adobe (previously macromedia) suite and its program fireworks. I just love the way it seamlessly integrates with dreamweaver that i use

    GIMP is a pretty good piece of software if you can't afford the steep price of Photoshop. But in all, nothing comes as close as Photoshop .

    Yeah, GIMP is great, but after I obtained Photoshop, I don't really have much use for it.

    How's Corel's package compared to GIMP?
    I used to have a trial version once upon a time for some photo editing program of Corel, wasn't impressed. But that's like 5 years ago.

    Is it any good compared to Adobe's solution?

    FOSS alternative to Corel is not just Gimp. You have inkscape too. Its a vector graphics drawing tool using the W3C standard Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format. Check details of inkscape @ Inkscape. Draw Freely.
