PCI Express is an advanced technology used to view digital display more perfectly. It's basically a gaming card. You can't imagine a gaming pc without it.

PCI-E is the successor of AGP. New soundcards also use PCI-E (1x. Graphics use 8x or 16x. 16x for PCI-E 1.1 and sometimes 8x, sometimes 16x for PCI-E 2.0)
If you are still using AGP I'd seriously advise you to get a new motherboard and a new graphic card, cause your configuration is inevitably heavily outdated.

The biggest difference between AGP and PCI graphics cards is that AGP cards can access the system memory to help with complex operations such as texture mapping.
PCI cards can only access the memory available on the actual card.

AGP doesn't share bandwidth with other devices, whereas PCI cards do.

AGP also makes pipelined requests, which means it can execute multiple instructions at one time.

PCI cards are not pipelined, which means each instruction has to finish before the next one is run.

AGP barely has bandwidth. PCI-E has loads.

PCI-E is a much better choice.
