Maybe turn of one core. For most games that's the problem. Don't know how to do it for DXdiag though. I'd say try finding the .exe, rmb it at then turn of the core. Should be some option in the menu.

I don't have a dual core yet, so I can't exactly say where..

I haven't experienced this on any dual core system as yet and I have a dual core laptop and a p4 for my desktop.

Could you please provide the exact details of the whole system, including whether it was pre built or you built it yourself and all specs and how old is the whole system??

Hopefully then I might be able to provide you with a better answer because at the moment I would only be guessing for you to solve it.

Can somebody please tell me how it is possible to turn off one core?

I have no idea how, but it would be really useful if some one could give me a few tips.

Thanks!

I don't know how to do it but it would either be done via th bios or would require a hack otherwise.

What version of windows are you running as you have 3 GB of Ram in your PC + video card ram and a 32 bit os can only use a max of 4 GB and windows default can only use 3GB max inc. all memory on the entire pc.

64 bit oses can use a hell of a lot more memory and aren't bound to the 4GB memory their limit is a lot higher but you need 64 bit hardware to run a 64 bit os and 64 bit can also run 32 bit but 32 bit can't run 64 bit.

If you just want to test your graphic card I'd use 3dMark06.
DXDIAG just gives you some raw data and a little test, but no real results.

yep you can use futuremark's benchmark programs to test both your graphic card & your computer as well for stability. This programs are not free though. Good luck hunting.
