Default Question about website SEO from a company called TechWyse?

If you are not a SEO expert who specializes in Search Engine Optimization, I am politely asking that you do not answer this question. I’m looking for answers from qualified individuals who are experts with SEO. Well, my name is Gerry. I am distributor of consumer electronics and telephone headsets for homes, offices, call centers, and more. My business has been active for 7 years and I employ a few individuals in my organization. I am very, and I mean VERY savvy with the internet, and SEO, but I would not call myself a “pro” at it. I’m too busy to “perform” SEO on my own site because SEO is a very big undertaking.

OK- getting to the question LOL. There is a company based out of Toronto Ontario Canada. They are called “TechWyse” (http://www.techwyse.com). They have a lot of employees (13 people in their Toronto office and supposedly 70 in India). They are very popular from what I understand and they have a good online reputation and positive customer references. Are any of you guys familiar with them?? I talked with Karl; he’s the sales representative working with me. Perhaps others on here know who he is.

He proposed me an SEO package and the cost is $4000 for a one time set up for blog implementation ($500), organic optimization ($4120), and WyseLabs ($795). This is a total of $5415 and he gave me a $1415 discount, so my total is only $4000. Then, there are monthly fees of $750 for the first 3 months, and after those first 3 months the monthly fee is $1275. The monthly fee is for the sole purpose of “on going” SEO.

I understand everything Karl explained to me, but one thing I keep asking him about is the “WyseLabs” service for $795. The WyseLab service includes monthly performance reports, monthly site review and strategy meeting, plus ongoing website conversion improvements. Under the terms of the WyseLabs service, the will install the Google Analytics code. Well, here’s the thing. My PHP web developer knows how to do this (heck, I know how to do it). It’s just a matter of pasting code into the backend of your site ensuring that its on every page of the site. Karl at TechWyse claims to me that they are going to ensure it is “properly” installed. I explained to Karl that Google offers a specific tool that lets you confirm whether or not Google Analytics code is installed. He said the Google tool will not be 100% accurate. Anyways, there is something he mentions about “setting up the cookies” in conjunction with the Google Analytics code. For example, say if a customer transfers over to the PayPal server from a page in our website…….. Well, he’s going to do something with the cookies to make sure analytics tracks it when customers to move over to PayPal. I don’t know if I explained that right but that’s the gist of it. Can any of you other SEO experts out there please comment on this or elaborate so that I understand it better.

In my own opinion, why would Google even take the time and money to build their own analytics service if it cannot “Properly” be installed by webmasters. Google offer a tool to help you ensure it is properly installed. Mine says it is properly installed. Do you know exactly what Karl from TechWyse means when they will ensure it is properly installed? Please, I really need to understand this because I really am confused.

    Thanks all!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR.
    Whoo Hoo!!
Thank you very much James, I really appreciate it. The way you explained it is simple and is a logical explanation that I can understand. Thank you sir

Sounds like this Karl is trying to make their services sound more complex than they really are to justify their steep prices. I would suggest that you shop around for a SEO company that is more up front about what they are doing for you.

I'm sure you don't need to set up analytics any differently than google suggests, thats for sure. The only way a webmaster could mess up analytics installation is if they paste the code into the wrong section of the webpage. It should be pasted at the bottom of the page right before the closing body tag.

There is only one way to track when a customer goes to another website such as Paypal from your site. Instead of linking staight to paypal from your site, you would instead, link to a page within your own site that is set up to automaticly redirect the customer to Paypal. By installing the analytics code within this redirecting page, you can tell when the customer has accessed the outgoing paypal link. There is no special cookie setup required to do this. I can do this in 10 minutes tops.
