Don't submit your website to search engines

I agree with Booboo regarding is view of search engine behaviour. But I disagree with his last line saying that

" Start your site, get a blog up and write unique content, submit to directories etc "

Submitting your site to directories is against the policies of many search engines. This includes Google. They clearly mention that artificial techniques to increase page rank of your website will negatively affect your page rank. They clearly mention directory submission as one of those tools which they are against.

But the google webmaster tools says that your site will be more accurately indexed if you are providing them the site map. I use webmaster tools for my sites and found them useful to know your status in google.

I have also added sitemaps, but it doesn't look any better after that too. Still the rate of indexing is slow.

sitemaps are good to be indexed,but you have to update it regularly.and there is another thing which makes wordpress most seo friendly is,the google sitemap generator has a auto notification service which notifies the search engines that your site has updated it's cntents. so the search engines understand that it should send crawlers to the site.

How would it be easier to submit a site that uses smf to a search engine? Is there a simple way or is it complicated

Also, when i submitted my old site to google, i was waiting 2 years and it still didn't get added

I used smf a long way back so can't remember so well, i think there is an sitemap plugin for smf. if not then just install a plugin for social bookmarking.make a forum post. submit it on digg, and hurray!! you are indexed by google. do regular good forum posts or ask you users to do so and put them on digg, and you are done.you have to wait just 5-10 mins to get indexed. remember whenever you can't find a way for seo, rely on digg.(but dont abuse it buy overposting yourself ;-))

Google bot has indexed about every single page on my website that is accesible.

No pictures though. When are pictures indexed.

Use scripts to make XML file and add to Search Engineer ...... I think if we don't add to SE, nobody know our site
