Does anyone know which search engine lets you place ads for free on their website? Because I have a profusehost forum I want to submit a ad to, and i do not have money...So can anyone be nice enough and active enough to look at my thread and tell me if their is a search engine that can be placed ads for free into?

I don't think there are any top search engines that will allow you to advertise your site for free on their search engine. If you are looking for traffic, I recommend joining some kind of ad exchange network. If you prefer to go a different route, I recommend setting up a blog on your website and start blogging. Use wordpress for your blog software and you should see search engines like Google eventually visiting your site.

If you write nice, lengthy articles, you will see more hits to your site. Junk post will not help you at all.

If you find something amazing or crazy that doesn't exist online, post it on your blog and digg it. You will see people jumping on your site like crazy. That will only happen if you have something unique to offer.

**make sure you have at least one site linking to your site if you want search engines to index your pages.

the best way is to post your link in forums as a signature or go to orkut facebook & other platforms where people come & go & stay & invite them to join your site.

Find your traffic & invite them

I would suggest the use of a banner exchange where you place ad's on your site and they place your ad's on member sites with some sites offering a 2:1 ratio and one offers 7:10 but it depends on the popularity of your site but is a good way to advertise for free.

Me too haven't come across any search engine allowing to place ads for free. Adding a signature to all the mails and the forum posts is the best way to attract more visitors and also help in indexing your site. Banner exchange is also a good option.

I found somewhere in the web that RSS feeds also help in increasing the rate of your site being indexed. So, try having a RSS feed for your site too....

I too don't think there will be such a search engine. Even if there is one it would be some small ones developed by students or so and will not have much pages views

i think you should find your site competitors & then request a back links from them. this would increase your PR & also will make you more exposed.

if you have a good content & less ads & clean layout then people will stay

    All the best

I agree with the others and this is exactly what I do !

First place your domain in every signature you sent, so people always connect you with your page.
Second search your own Page inside the search engines (this increases your page rank).
Third go to new forums and advice your side (but first make some other posts, because I would not click any side advice from somebody who has only made this one post).
Fourth keep your content up to date !!!! This is the most important step, cause you want your customers to come back.

(the last point is also the point I suck at moment, I receive a lot of clicks but most visitors only open the first page and then leave again, they do not read what I write ... :-( is my english that bad ? )
