    Default Hard Drive Failure Update

We recently encountered hard drive problems with one of our main hard drives. To prevent data loss, we had to take our free web hosting server offline. We were able to bring back the server online with the backup drive but the data on that drive was almost 2 months old.

So far, we have restored as much data as possible from the corrupt hard drive. Also, we have finished restoring all the mysql databases and the only thing missing is the content from "public_html" folder for some websites. Therefore, if you still notice any old content on your site and you have a backup of your site, please restore the files from "public_html" folder from your backup file that you downloaded to your computer.

All you have to do is unzip the backup file and look for "public_html" folder. To unzip *.tar files, please use winrar - WinRAR archiver, a powerful tool to process RAR and ZIP files
You will find the "public_html" folder under the "homedir" folder. Once you locate the folder, simply upload that folder to your site using ftp. Make sure to upload "public_html" content to "public_html" folder in your ftp only.

If you have any questions about the status of your website, please submit a ticket at Psychz Networks - Powered By Kayako eSupport or email support@psychz.net
When submitting a ticket, please make sure to provide your domain and username.

In some banks I know they back up the system everyday using a DVD. So why don't use a blu-ray disk or something to back up the system everyday. I don't know is that possible. But nice if you have done. But one thing you provide us great service for free and we free users are happy with your service.

we already have backup option in place. For some reason the backup script stopped working around March. Therefore, we didn't have any backup data for past 2 months. The backup script has been fixed and it is working fine now. The data should be backed up to secondary hard drive every week.

Hopefully something like this do not happen again, I lost my pagerank and my page is not working properly at the moment cause there are still some features missing. But I hope profusehost.net keeps up the great work, cause apart from the recent downtimes profusehost.net is the best free webhost on the web.

you do not loose page rank due to downtime. Page rank is linked to your domain/content and downtime will never lead to loss of page rank.

yeah maybe google.com identified that your site isn't working or is not that active according to their system, and so they presume your site is lost or isn't working now, but it'll be back after a few days or months, don't worry
