Default Blackberry Curve 8900 Wi-Fi but no UMA Please Help!?

ive been looking all over the internet to find out how to activate UMA over Wi-Fi. i am connected to Wi-Fi over a BT Home Hub without any problems. the only thing is that an sign of UMA does not appear. i really need to use the UMA service as my house recieves absoloutly no signal at all and this would be the only way i could send and recieve texts and phone calls. i've heard that you need to go onto 'manage connection' and then click on 'Mobile Network Options'. When on the 'Mobile Network Options' menu, it is supposed to have preferred network and i am supposed to change that to Wi-Fi to enable UMA. i am not sure if this is entirely correct so please could you tell me how to connect to UMA. Also, when i diagnose the Wi-Fi, it says 'Wi-Fi' and 'VPN' but not UMA. PLease help as i really need to get UMA working. I know my carrier can support it because it is T-mobile and only T-mobile and Orange support UMA. i have also read in many reviews that the blackberry curve 8900 can support UMA so i don't know what is going wrong.
