Default I want to connect two monitors on one computer.?

Hello. My father wanted me to connect two monitors on our computer for his job or something. Well I checked the back of the computer and there is only one slot for the monitor. So how can I make this possible? Please don't say "oh just get a new one with 2" well see that would be nice but we are kinda on a budjet to do that. So if this were to be possible can the monitors output like 1 huge desktop like if I slided my mouse it would go to the other monitor and vise versa?
Well thank you for any help!

You can actually split the signal but then you get 2 monitors with the same display. One thing to check for is possibly a TV out. A TV out can often be used as a 2nd monitor and spanned across like you want. Otherwise you will need a new video card but it isn't that expensive, dual cards start about 50 bucks. You will need to know what slots you have available BEFORE just ordering one. For exapmle AGP, PCI, PCI Express etc.
