Is it ok to frequently power off/on my

computer LCD? I always leave my CPU running and rarely turn off my computer. Is it ok if I (frequently) switch off my LCD (sometimes as frequent as a few minutes' gap) whenever I'm not using it? I'm hoping to preserve it's life and also cut down on electricity usage, but will this habit ruin the monitor?

I've been doing this with my CRT for years and it seemed to be okay. This is my first LCD monitor.

Nah, doing this should be fine, although if you're doing it to save electricity, I don't know if the amount you'd save would be worthwhile turning it off, if it's only of for periods of a few minutes, but certainly for longer periods of time. I do the same with my CRTs when I'm not using them.
