 Which is the best free server os i would like to know which operating system is the best for a web server. I have heard BSD and Nix are good operating system for web servers. Moreover I would like to know more about Sun Microsystems Open Solaris. Have anyone tried Open Solaris. If so, how is its performance. Also want to know about Linux and BSD.      |

| GNU/Linux come in wide varieties. Redhat is a popular one. If you need professional support, you could choose Redhat. If not, you can choose from debian, CentOS, or even Ubuntu. I have not yet worked with Solaris and BSD. |

| For professional support you must go for RedHat. CentOS is also good. Its up to you to selected. If you think you can manage everything by your own then some other versions. |
