    Default Domain pricing

    Hi,

I am just curious to know at what price you buy a domain.
I get top level domains like .com, .org, .net, .info, etc at a rate around US$9; same for renewals too.

Is there any other cheaper registrar?

Default I think $9 is normal

The normal fee that most of the registrars charge for top level domains like .com, .net, .org is $9. Some registrars with good reputation and brand charge even more like 11 dollars. And yes usually the renewal charges remain the same. If you are transferring a domain from old to new one then they may offer low fees for that year in which the transfer occured.

I'd like to know what is a good registrar. Like, service wise.

Is it so that if you buy [yourname].com that everything from [yourname].profusehost.net will be accesible form [yourname].com?

Like, going to [yourname].com/forums will give you the page from [yourname].profusehost.net/forums, but will show up as [yourname].com/forums in the browser?

I still don't know what are the criteria for a registrar to be good enough, so that their prizes for domains are high. May be its the long term service they are providing, or the number of domains they had registered.

Is it so that if you buy [yourname].com that everything from [yourname].profusehost.net will be accesible form [yourname].com?
Yes, surely you can do that. You will get the full control of [yourname].com and you can decide where the subdomains and sub directories point. Just buying a domain and parking it in your profusehost account can make [yourname].profusehost.net/forums show as [yourname].com/forums. Its really simple and what you need to do is just buy a domain paying the prize for it.

What bizzard said is exactly right. You will get full control of the domain you buy and you can decide where it and its sub domains must point.

I am a domain reseller. Check my prices and see whether its competitive. The prices are in Indian Rupees as I am currently focused on the customers here. In the current situation, 1USD = 50INR approximately.

The prices are available at Cool-Works Web Solutions - Domains, Hosting, Designing and everything related to internet

Note: Since we are undergoing upgradation, all links in the site are not fully functional.

Well to be honest I've never bought any Domain name yet. I always get free domain name just like paid one without any advertising at all. All you've to do is to make some posts in the forum and that all. U can get the free domain with in couple of days. The website is Domain Discussion Board - Powered by vBulletin

But $9 is also suitable price for any domain.

Do they register the domain in your name, or under theirs? Can you post a domain which you got for free, so that I could look for more details about the registration.

all the registrars sell domains almost in the same price. a bad register will never give you the control of your domain so that you can never move your domain to other registrars. ask if you will get the control always before buying any domain.

I got a .com for lesser than 5$. There are coupons that help you get it in addition to hosting. I know DreamHost for one which offers a YEAR of hosting for FREE with a coupon.
