    Default BEST Social Networking Website

Dear friends which you think the BEST social networking website.
Do you go for something which give you more freedom in terms of creating your own design for your profile or something like orkut which have everything in a uniform look

I used to have a myspace and thats was pretty good for the longest time, lately it is ridiculous though and I deleted it a couple days ago. On myspace every other day I would get 3-4 webcam girls asking to be my friend and I was tired of deleting them all.

I got a facebook account a couple years ago too just to keep in contact with all my old high school friends and I've developed quite a fondness for it. It's not very customizable but it is slowly becomes more and more so. I've only tried those two social networking sites but out of those two facebook is way better.

If comparing Facebook and Myspace, then Facebook all the way. Myspace is too cluttered, has too many ads (feels like an internet billboard), and the server is down way too much. Facebook is slowly getting all the features that Myspace has, and then some, thanks to their new Applications system. Plus, Facebook takes advantage of AJAX technology, which Myspace doesn't.

Well, I have to say that Facebook definitely is the best social networking site our on the interent right now. Myspace has become a haven of weirdos and random people, while, in facebook you can actually communicate with people you know in real life. The setup is clean, and it has a lot of nice features.

Recently, facebook released the "Application Platform", which allows independent developers to create and distribute facebook applications which can be added to your profile. I really like this, since it allows me to make my profile more colorful and add more features, etc, but other people have been reacting adversely, claiming that facebook is becoming more like myspace as a result of it.

There really are no truely good social networking sites out there. They all seem old, gaudy, and out-dated. I think the internet needs a social networking community that adheres to web 2.0 standards.

The good thing about Facbook's Applications system is that you can choose whether you want applications to display or not. People choose what applications they want to install. You can choose where and when you want the applications to display, who can see your applications, or whether you want to see others applications.

Myspace's system is subject to crashing old browsers, essentially everybody sees the same page whether you want them to or not. You cannot make some features available to some and not to others.

I tried with Facebox(Now NetLog), Tagged and so many others. Among then I prefer Orkut. Orkut is not as customizable as Tagged or NetLog as it has a unified theme and don't have any templates to chose. Since the theme is unified, its easy to find any information about our friends since everyone's profile page looks the same.
More over, being a Google venture, it has facility to show online status of Google Talk or Chat from G-Mail window, so that we can chat with friends through Google Talk which is more familiar to use.

Not everyone can register in Orkut. Those who wan't to join must need an Google account.
    Check out orkut, its cool...

I think Orkut is the best social networking site on the planet. because it got so much response that even today children & adults are joining in the thousands everyday. the best thing is the interlinking of things & sites in it. like gmail, chat , video upload & now the photo slide show option altogether it makes a wonderful combination on the internet. that's why all the people fall for it. More over the easiness to use orkut cannot be compared with all the leading ones like myspace, facebook, hi5 , friendster, tagged, or any other social networking site on the internet.

I think orkut is the still best in the business. Over sixty millions of registered users and every growing orkut is the still the best. I think what make orkut the best is the uniform look that it have and all others are somewhat cluttered and its not easy to go through them and find a member that we want. In orkut we can just search of a member and get them quickly but in face book we have to go to network join them and then find the people we want and it seems somewhat consuming and i think Orkut is the best.

Yeah I too Agree with Naives.... But, Orkut is getting banned in some countries. For example, in United Arab Emirates, Orkut is banned. Also in many companies too, its banned along with the Google Talk. Its popularity has become a curse for itself.

Me too tried many other social networking sites like Tagged, Netlog, hi5 netspace and Wayn. Wayn seems to be a much better one compared to the others. Even though is intended for people who travel a lot, it can be used by others too. Its menus are customizable too. What I found wrong about it was that many facilities are available for premium members who pay money and there are ads too... But giving it a try won't cost us nothing.... Just give it a try if you are interested...

    The URL is www.wayn.com

Orkut is retarded. I hate it. All you can do is post comments and thats it. The interactivity level is below 0 for orkut. The reason orkut is popular is because i think all internet users in India user Orkut. Once Orkut users get a taste of facebook they will drop orkut right away. Facebook offers tons of options and ability to add different programs to your profile and this includes everything from music, videos, astrology, games, questions and list goes on and on. With Facebook, you can tell when your buddies on AIM and i just love the mini feed that shows you updates on your friend's profile such as comments, pictures, gifts etc. DIE Orkut, LONG LIVE FACEBOOK :-) I say this cuz i tried using orkut and i got bored of it in 24 hours. The reason Google targetted other countries is because they know people on those countries are not away for facebook and myspace, so they won't know about the amazing features of facebook and will be happy with using crappy Orkut.
In July, MySpace's unique audience stood at 61.3 million, up 33% year-over-year, with time spent per person up 36% to two hours, 51 minutes and five seconds.

Facebook saw its unique audience rise 129% to 19.5 million, a clear No. 2, but time spent was up only 7% to slightly more than an hour.
