Default What's wrong with the audio on my PS3 movies?

I have my 1tb external harddrive usb2.0 connected to my PS3 to my flat screen for watching .avi movies.
95% of the movies are fine and no problems with lag or with video or audio.
But the other 5% (I downloaded legally) work and sound great on my desktop, but sound "garbeled" audio-wise when transfered to my external hd>PS3>falt screen for viewing. What's the problem?

its probably a codec issue, the videos you are trying to play may not be using a codec supported by the ps3, here are a list of supported codecs.

    MPG
-MPEG-1 (MPEG Audio Layer 2) (.MPG)
-MPEG-2 PS (MPEG2 Audio Layer 2, AAC LC, AC3(Dolby Digital), LPCM) (.MPG)
    -MPEG-2 TS (MPEG2 Audio Layer 2) (.MPG)
    -MPEG-4 Part3 (MPEG-4 AAC Low Complexity (unprotected)) (.MP4)
    -MPEG-4 Part2 (MPEG-4 SP; MPEG-4 ASP) (.MP4)
    -MPEG-4 DivX (in AVI) (.AVI)
    -MPEG-4 H.264 (.MP4 / .M4V)
    -MPEG-4 AVC (.MP4)
    DivX (.AVI / MPG)
    XviD (.AVI / .MPG)
    AVI (.AVI)
    Motion JPEG
    -Motion JPEG (Linear PCM)
    -Motion JPEG (μ-Law)
    VC-1 (.WMV)
    AVCHD (.m2ts / .mts )
