It depends on what you are wanting to use it for and what tpe of games you are into. If the Blu-Ray format is what you feel you will be using to watch movies in the future, then yes. Other than that, there isn't much out for it as of right now that justifies the extra money spent. The 360 Plays DVDs just as good and the majority of the games that are coming out for the PS3 are also coming out for the 360. The HD-DVD drive for the 360 has dropped in price and can be picked up fairly cheaply now if you search around. The 360 Elite offers quite a bit on par with the PS3 other than the HDMI is 1.2 instead of 1.3, which is what the PS3 offers. If you are going just for games, the 360 currently offers more.

If your a PS3 fan boy, and can afford it, then buy it. It's tight on games now too. Bottom line is their just aren't that many game out for it YET. I would get either Resistance: Fall of Man (A good, if not brief, first person shooter) or if you have a lot of free time on your hands, Oblivion (100 hours'ish of game play)Right now the 360 has hella better games. Things will even out in due time though.

Personally I don't think it is worth it. There are not a whole lot of games thus far. Resistance Fall of Man is probably best so far. Console has a high price tag too and blue ray hasn't proven to be the tech to get. Depending on your tastes, I would recommend either the Microsoft Xbox360 or Nintendo Wii. If pc style games such as FPS, action/adventure, online gaming etc is your style than 360. If you enjoy platformers, games geared towards younger demographic or novelty style games than Nintendo wii. And of course Nintendo's own games such as Zelda are surebets.

Well that's basically the whole problem with the PS3, there's no good games on it. I used to own one, but there's not really any cool games on it, that's why I bought a Wii, because of the great "Wii only" titles like Zelda, Super Smash Bros., and Metroid. So I'd say wait till it gets a price drop, or wait till they actually get some good games, or just flat out buy a Wii.

The PS3 is totally worth buying! The PS3 is not just a gaming console but it is a blu-ray player which i totally suggest you should buy the blu-ray disc, if you have HDTV it will be like your in a movie theater. You can put mp3 and mpegs on here so it could be used as a boom box, its the cheapest blu-ray out there ( you can go to best buy and look for yourself). The best game has to be Resistance Fall of Man. Hours of gameplay on the campaign mode, but if you dont want to play the story mode play the ONLINE the online mode for this game is soooo much fun. The controls are easy to use and thousands of people play this game online (32 player deathmatch is so much fun but crazy)I highly recommend that you buy a PS3, dont listen to the press saying that its already lost the console war, later this year we'll see more games that will be like Resistanc FOM.

I have a PS3 (and I'm a girl *gasp*)The Good: Graphics are amazing beyond belief, however they are only good with an HDTV. As of right now the games arent all that great, the best one out right now is Resistance: Fall of Man which is a first person alien shooter game. But I am anticipating Final Fantasy XIII which is perdicted to be amazing, and I'm not just saying that because I am an Square Fan girl...okay maybe I am. Home is also comming out wich is like a mulitplayer Sim game and allows you to chat with other PS3 users in a online environment.Bad: As of right now there are no really amazing games. Resistance is good, but its not wow. Right now its just a really expensive paperweight. My advice would be to wait until FFXIII comes out and then get your PS3.The consoul has alot of potential but right now Sony isn't using any of it. I would wait about a year or two until more games come out for it. But personally I love my PS3, I really do. The final suggestion though is all up to you.

Here's the thing... the PS3 is getting a lot of bad publicity because it hasn't turned out to be the "Shock-and-Awe" console that everyone was expecting. That's partly due to the lack of games out for the PS3 and the cost ($600-USD).What I think some people fail to realize, is that technically speaking, the most amazing looking game for the PS3 right now, has only tapped into 20% of the PS3's raw power. This means that once developers get familiarized with programing games for the PS3, you will see a huge difference in terms of game quality and graphics. On the other hand, the Xbox 360 is already maxed out when it comes to what the system can actually do in technical terms. One example would be the problems the developers for GTA 4 are having in trying to develop the game on the 360 due to it's technical limitations when compared to the PS3. The capacity of a BlueRay Disc is double of an HD DVD, so you can imagine how much more creative developers can be when creating games for the PS3.I bought a PS3 2 weeks ago and I must say I'm pleased with it. I think right now the name of the game is PATIENCE. If you're looking to jump right in and have tons of games to choose from, then by all means, go for the 360, but if you're like me and can wait a few more months for the next wave of new PS3 games and want a system that will blow away any other console on the market, then I'd say get a PS3.It's really all a matter personal choice:Xbox 360 = Less expensive, more games.PS3 = Better technology, more potential, bigger more complex games in 6 months to 1 year.Hope this helps. Good luck!

I kind of guessed this would happen to the PS3. If it takes one year to really produce a great game for a PS2 and supposedly, the PS3 is 10 times as powerful, it's going to take that much longer to make great games. On the PS2, just look at the difference between the first Grand Theft Auto title and San Andreas. Most of the games out for the PS2 I'll bet are still not using the full potential. Bottom line is that it will just take lots of time for the really great games to show up.
