Default Upgrading the memory

Upgrading your memory is a good idea. But it depends on what kind of programs you run in your computer. If you use your computer for playing heavy games then you will probably require to have at least 2GB of ram, if you are a casual user who uses the computer for office works then 1GB is more than enough. It all depends how you use your computer.

most computers these days need 1 GB of ram to run properly. As I am typing this, my comp is using around 552 MB of RAM. RAM is cheap these days and you can easily get 1 GB for a cheap price. try - Newegg.com - Sub-Category Deals, Desktop Memory, Memory, Computer Hardware

If your computer is really old, i recommend saving little bit of money and just buy a new desktop because upgrading parts in a old computer is not really a good idea and you will just end up wasting your money.

I Don't Understand Why People Stress on Upgrading RAM Directly.

There are number of possible reasons for a computer to run slow. Even latest configuration computers with huge amounts of RAM and fast processors could run slower than it's usual speed.

You can turn off unwanted services, uninstall unwanted software, defragment your drives once every three months, keep your drives clutter free are some of the alternatives.
