You'll only be able to get a netbook for that price, but don't expect being able to work with it for hours. Really, it's a pain to use it more then 45 minutes.

If it's work, try upping your budget to get a decent Vista laptop (Come on, you can't stick to XP forever, now can't you?)

Netbooks are good, as long as you don't really want to run more than 2 things at once. Or use anything even moderately resource intensive.

I bought a laptop last year around Christmas. I got it at a steal only for 299 $ + free shipping. Had it not been christmas, I would have had to pay 525$!

For suggesting you a laptop, its needed to know what you are going to do with the laptop and whether you need any specific things with it, like DVD writer, bluetooth, card reader, etc. I think, with 350$, you could get a entry level laptop(compared to the price converted to INR17500)...
