Far too slow to bother?(P C I mean)?

From when I turn on the p c , it takes around 45 mins to get to read my emails. the darn thing is too slow. I have tried the reg cleaner, defrag, removal of some programmes, regedit and a few other things, but nothing seems to work. Has anyone got any ideas on how to speed thei piece of P C up. It is doing my head in. Another Q I've got is how do the repair shops add on memory to a laptop (sony Viao) for increased RAM?

Clean up your internet temp files from all user log in.
Clean up your normal temp files.

Delete all files in following directory.
Note: Replace User with your user name folder
Use Control +A to highlight all and Shift Delete to delete without move it to garbage can first

C:\WINDOWS\Temp
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Temp
C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

Open Internet Explorer
Click on Tools
Internet Options
Click on
1. Delete Cookies
2. Delete Files
3. Clear history
4. Click on Setting
5. Click on VIEW FILES
6. Delete any remaining files
7. Click on Back Space
8. Double click on “TEMP” folder and delete remaining files in Temp folder

Open up your Firefox
1. click on Tools
2. click on “Clear private data”
3. check all items.
4. Click on “Clear private data now”

After all this. EMPTY your garbage can.

Run a DEFRAG by going to START
PROGRAMS
ACCESSORIES
SYSTEM TOOLS
DISK DEFRAGMENTER
And click on DEFRAGMENT
This may take up to 8 hours depend on what was the last time you did this.

install new RAM if u don't have more than 512 MB.

instal cache clearer software for ( OO Clever Cache)

RAM comes in modules of varing capacities, which slot into the RAM slots on the motherboard.
The repair shops install RAM by just adding another module.

Have you run a virus scan?

First of all it depends on your computer hardware and your operation system, so please give some more information, like speed in mhz / ghz, Ram in mb / GB and the name and version of the operation system. (for example 1.66 Ghz 2 GB Ram Mac OS X.5)

To see if it is a software issue just try a Linux live cd !

If you are using windows do a virus check because 45 min for me sound like a virus attack.

What are the specs of the system you're running?

Correct hardware matched with the correct OS give you super performance. You can't have vista with a 5 year PC and its not fair to install Windows 98 on to system having 2Gb of Ram. Know the limitations of your hardware and chose the OS. Performance comes your way.

I disagree with this opinion ! This might be true for windows, but I know enough people who run exactly the same unix or Linux version on all their computers and there is at least a difference of five years between the different computers. Windows vista is wasting resources ! That is what I think !

Yep windows vista does waste a lot of resources. But gamers would still choose this OS over XP due to the DX10 changes.

You probably got a virus that was not detected. If your into it you can try reformatting your pc/laptop.
