Best Linux OS for old laptop?

I have a very old computer and I want to install linux on it. I would like a linux that is compatible with many hardware devices and would work with 160mb of RAM and 4GB of hard drive. My computer is a toshiba 2065cds. Also, I would like something that looks like windows because I am very used to windows. Thank you for your help.

What's the processor clock speed? The minimum for GUI environments on RedHat and Fedora is 400MHz, I think, ever since RedHat 8 or so.

Linux doesn't need system of high configuration, i think if you can get Ubuntu 5.04 from somewhere it will be best suited.

I got a better option than that. Puppy 4.01 is great. It is only 100 MB and it is great. Very very good for the size. I think this is best suited version of linux for any old system. It will work on every system i think.

Debian with a lightweight desktop environment like xcfe will also do the job. Also, Puppy is another great distro, which will run smoothly on your laptop.

Ubuntu needs abit more then that I think. Anyways, they made a branched distro just for computers that have older specs (Xubuntu) which uses the more light weight Xfce interface.

Its the latest versions of Ubuntu that need more RAM. Ubuntu 5.04, released in 2005 needs just 64MB RAM to run... But, It is very old now. So, go for the latest light weight distos...

I think Ubuntu will work fine. Try it. I have also installed it on an old computer. Working fine

Ubuntu or PC Linux should both work fine. They're both good operating systems too.
