can a company give a position without advertising it internaly.? The company i work for recently gave a supervisors position to someone from outside of the company, this was done without anyone within the store being told of the vacancy, when we the staff found out about this i told our store manager of the staffs feelings, she in turn called the area manager and informed him of the staffs ill feeling, Interviews were then arranged, 2 candidates applied for the position, the woman it was offered to and myself, I presented what I thought was very good presentation, our store manager has only just been employed by the company coming from a rival store, our area manager also happened to be the area manager for this rival Co, and the woman he offered the position too also worked for our rivals, (all 3 working for the rivals at the same time) the interviews were held by the area manager with the store manager sitting in on both interviews, I have today been told that I have not been successful, when I asked on what points I failed to impress, I was told that it wasn't to do with my qualifications or experiences (having worked for years in a supervisory and managerial role) but my lack of knowledge re: when and how the company was established. Is there a case for unfair or even illegal trading. |
