Default 20 sec. boot time

Hey, for all those who can not believe. I found a video that proves a Mac Pro to boot up Leopard in less than 20 sec.

YouTube - Mac Pro Startup time

Regrades Snoop1990

Why don't you try just putting a windows box together with an SSD drive and tons of ram and see if it boots up quicker!!

Good work though. It is nice to hear of quick boot times but as long as it is less than 30 seconds then it doesn't really worry me!

My debian now boots with just 12 seconds.... I don't know what happened... It was more than 20 seconds when I first installed and after some days, it just speed up automatically and I am happy with it....

lol.

Bizzard, you must have chnaged something without realising it!

You have to love Linux!

12 second boot time is just awesome! Are you running ssd's if you currently aren't using them and you did end up using them it would be even quicker probably.

Mmh yeah, I know that there are operation systems that boot faster than Mac OS X, but I can tell you why ;-) It's because Mac Os X has a lot stuff to run in the background to have such a smooth gui and those search features and the instant timemachine backup and so on.

Uhm, yeah...

I've got Vista and I do it in under 25 with a crappy HDD. I really can't see what's so interesting about it..

Haven't tried XP on this machine though.

Boot time really matters for some people like me... Due to power problems here, I have to shutdown my computer many times and the power will be ok sometimes within the time computer shutdowns... I really feel angry during those times, when the system boots low.....
