Microsoft New Search Engine - Bing!!

Recently, one of our web hosting clients submitted a ticket asking about Bing.  Bing is a Microsoft product and recently they declared they are purchasing Yahoo! Just like any massive organization it’s only a matter of time till they support a single search algorithm and considering the millions they dumped into Bing - and considering how screwed up Yahoo! Is internally, it is my view that Bing will win. OK , so what’s good about Bing? 2 things essentially. Based mostly on their research which confirmed the famous “F” pattern which describes how users view a net page, they found that the bulk of users never go past the 1st five organic listing. This has formed their content display and layout. In addition, Bing offers access to classes of info, related search questions, and access to expanded info. Fundamentally they are bringing as much content forward as practicable to make your search more effective.

This functionality is based on research and clever algorithm that aggregates the search behavior of many millions of queries and user behavior.  This will help give you a more rewarding search experience where you find what you’re attempting to find efficiently.

What are the cons? Well, I would not always say that having someone help you make choices is a con, but it does feel kinda creepy. I also do not believe that there’s always a majority. What I mean is the algorithm itself, but totaling results across all users, is sure to have some lacks. From a selling point of view, it also has the likelihood of changing the game rather.

For instance, if clicks are what drives top search engine placements, then site owners are going to have FREE SEX in the title tag of each net page on their server. I know I am exaggerating a little but anything can occur. From my perspective, I continue to think SEO best practices are still necessary.

My recommendation to you is to make certain each net page you produce has a single theme and unique meta tags, URLs, and so on. Bing is making an attempt to specify content and net pages so be sure you do the thinking for them. That is actually the only real way to win the synthetic intelligence game!
